Are you short and wish you were taller? Or do you just feel the desire or need to be taller? Sometimes, we even feel self conscious about our height especially in gathering where almost everyone is tall...

Many people think that they can’t grow taller once they reach the age of 18. But actually,  a person can still increase in height by some inches after turning 18. More height can be attained naturally and easily by incorporating the following healthy habits into our lifestyle.

1. Drink lots of water. Drink at least 7-8 glasses of water daily. This will boost your metabolism and growth rate.

2. Drink more milk:  Milk is rich in calcium, an important mineral capable of increasing your height. Drink at least 2-3glasses of milk daily. You can also eat other dairy foods like cheese and yoghurt for more effects as a  substitute.

3. Eat a balanced diet. Choose foods containing only healthy fats. Plant oils, nuts, and fish are the best choices. Limit consumption of saturated fats, and avoid foods with trans fat. Choose a fiber-filled diet which includes whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. Eat more fruits and vegetables!

4. Eat lots of food from the protein family: Proteinous foods like eggs, beans, oats, broccoli, tuna fish, shrimps, and a lot more are very essential for the development of the body. They will also help you in gaining more height.

5. Get proper sleep and rest. The Growth hormones responsible for increasing height is produced naturally in the body when you have a good deep sleep.

6. Engage in exercises and sports. Exercises and sports stimulate the release of growth hormones. To increase your height, you should exercise regularly and participate in sport activities that require you to jump a lot, such as basketball, skipping, etc.

7. Indulge in Yoga: Certain yoga exercises facilitate the release of growth-inducing hormones in the body. The best yoga pose to increase height is the “Surya Namaskar”.

9. Stretch your body often: Stretching is another effective way of enhancing your height at any age. Try to stretch your body by standing on your toes for a few minutes daily, several times a day. Other stretching exercises can be done too.

8. Enjoy sunlight: sunlight is the best natural source of vitamin D, a key nutrient needed for overall growth, and inducing maximum height. To make sure your better gets the required amount of this vitamin D, spend at least 20-30 minutes daily in the sunlight.

Also, stop smoking as it acts like a growth inhibitor. And, avoid drinking as it suppresses your growth level.
